Kevin Durant concedes scoring title to Carmelo Anthony

Kevin Durant won’t be winning his fourth straight NBA scoring title this season.

His reaction?

“Oh well!!” the Oklahoma City star said in an Instagram message Wednesday morning announcing he would not take part in the Thunder’s season finale against Milwaukee.

Apparently Durant has more important things on his mind than trying to catch New York’s Carmelo Anthony in the scoring chase ... such as resting up and staying healthy to lead the top-seeded team in the Western Conference into the playoffs.

“SITTING OUT TONIGHT’S GAME, if you disappointed I didn’t try to go for the scoring title, oh well!!” Durant said in a message he wrote on his phone’s notepad and posted on Instagram.

Anthony, who also will be sitting out Wednesday night when the Knicks wrap up the season against Atlanta, is averaging 28.7 points per game. Durant, who is averaging 28.1 points per game, would have needed to score 70 points against the Bucks to claim the title.

“He has no shot,” Oklahoma City Coach Scott Brooks said earlier in the week, according to the Oklahoman via ESPN. “I guarantee you he won’t get it.”

Durant might have a chance to take an even greater prize over Anthony if the Thunder face the Knicks in the NBA Finals.
