Chaminade junior wins Mission League 100 meters

There was so much anticipation and excitement for Thursday’s 100 meters final at the Mission League championships that Occidental College’s Jack Kemp Stadium went into total silence just before the race’s start.
By the finish, junior T.J. Brock of Chaminade had run down Dominic Davis of Alemany to win in 10.45 seconds. Davis ran 10.59. Seven of the eight runners broke 11 seconds. Trevor Reid of Notre Dame was third in 10.67. He was followed by Alemany’s Diab Davis (10.79), Loyola’s Rafael Ferguson (10.84) and David Long (10.88), Harvard-Westlake Alex Barnum (10.92) and Alemany’s Johnny Edwards (11.14).
Brock later won the 200 in 21.09. Barnum took second in 21.75. It was good get-well present for Barnum’s father, Terry, the head of athletics for Harvard-Westlake who was released from the hospital after suffering a heart attack on Sunday.
