Golf: Long Beach Wilson wins Southern Division team title
Long Beach Wilson won the Southern Section Southern Division golf championship on Monday.
The Bruins shot 347 (13 under par) at Mile Square Golf Course in Fountain Valley. Huntington Beach was second at 372.
Both schools advance to the Southern Section team qualifier on Thursday at Mission Lakes Country Club. Fourteen teams will compete to finish in the top four and earn a berth to the CIF Southern State Regional.
Wilson had three players shot 69 _ Hunter Epson, Andrew Fernandes and Andre Calubid.
In the Central Division final, Loyola won its fourth consecutive championship.
In the Central Coast, San Marcos edged Calabasas, 391-394. Bennett Teichard of San Marcos shot 71. Elias Gross of Calabasas shot 72.
In the Western Division, Santa Ana Mater Dei won the title over Servite. Bill Rosenthal shot a 68.
