Dodgers call up reliever Josh Wall, send down Shawn Tolleson

The major moves may be done, but the Dodgers are still fine-tuning.

Before Monday’s game in Colorado, they called up Josh Wall from triple-A Albuquerque and sent fellow right-handed reliever Shawn Tolleson to Class-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Wall has been on a terrific roll at Albuquerque. He is a perfect nine for nine in save opportunities since the All-Star break, with a 1.98 earned-run average and a .188 opponents batting average.

He was called up once previously this season, earning the victory in his only appearance with a scoreless inning against the New York Mets on July 22.

Tolleson is 1-0 with a 3.42 ERA in 25 games this season. He had made 13 consecutive scoreless appearances until giving up a pair of solo home runs Sunday.

Tolleson, the Dodgers’ reigning minor league pitcher of the year, was probably sent to Rancho Cucamonga because it is nearby and will make for a quick return when he probably comes back when major league rosters are expanded Sept. 1.

Meanwhile, the bullpen was fairly depleted over the weekend and could use a fresh arm.
