Brewers complete four-game sweep of Dodgers, 6-2

Against the rest of the baseball world, the Dodgers are a blitzkrieg taking no prisoners. Against the Milwaukee Brewers, they are Mussolini’s army.

The Dodgers looked a lot like a team emotionally drained by the loss of its best player Thursday in falling to the Brewers, 6-2, and being swept before an announced Dodger Stadium crowd of 26,773.

The Dodgers learned before the game that Matt Kemp would be lost for at least four weeks with his aggravated hamstring injury, so you could understand if they came out a bit flat.

Except against the Brewers, it may not have mattered. The Brewers own the Dodgers. Live to play them. Wonder what the big fuss is.

The Dodgers are 1-6 against the Brewers. Against the rest of the National League, they’re 31-13.

Thursday marked the first time this season the Dodgers have been swept. Worse, it was the first time they’ve ever been swept by the Brewers and the first time they’ve been swept in a four-game series at home in 19 years.

The Dodgers started right-hander Chad Billingsley, who once again was unable to earn the win. Billingsley fell to 2-4 and hasn’t won a game since April 11.

Once again he wasn’t awful, he just wasn’t particularly good. He went six innings, allowing the four runs on six hits, a pair of walks and hit two batters.

The Brewers scored two runs in the second on a walk and three hits, then two more in the third on Aramis Ramirez’ two-run homer off an 0-2 pitch.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers could collect hits but precious few runs against Milwaukee starter right-hander Zack Greinke.

The Dodgers pushed one across in the second on an RBI single by … Billingsley. Otherwise, Greinke (6-2) surrendered nine hits in his six innings, but only the one run.

The loss dropped the Dodgers’ lead in the National League West to five games over the idle Giants, their smallest lead since May 5.
