Dodgers’ 2016 promotional schedule includes Justin Turner chia pet

And now for your off-season shopping pleasure, the Dodgers bring you their 2016 promotional schedule.

They’ve scheduled 40 giveaways for the coming season, and if the quality of the freebies has gone up in recent years, their possession does still require you to purchase a ticket, which ain’t getting any cheaper.

They’re dusting off the familiar – bobbleheads, pins, headphones – but still getting inventive. Just how badly do you absolutely want to own a Justin Turner chia pet? Has Dad always dreamed of snagging some Dodgers undies on Father’s Day? Can the Magic Johnson garden gnome really compete with last year’s Tommy Lasorda edition?

There will be a Vin Scully T-shirt night, and just for the Angels, they’ll giveaway a welcome mat. Dave Roberts already has a bobblehead night and he’s yet to be introduced as their new manager.

Returning in 2016 are Friday night fireworks, the Sunday pregame Viva Los Dodgers, movie nights, the Old-timers game and the Hollywood stars game.

Ten bobblehead nights are scheduled, including Clayton Kershaw, Don Newcombe, tri-World Series MVPs Pedro Guerrero, Steve Yeager and Ron Cey and Dusty Baker (on his return as manager of the Nationals).

They will also give away a travel pillow, a Jackie Robinson replica jersey, a magnet schedule, adult hooded sweatshirt, a license plate frame and on and on. No Dylan Hernandez chia pet yet, but do not give up hope.
