Driver sped up to 100 mph before being stopped for DUI
A 19-year-old Huntington Beach driver, who sped up his car to 100 mph when police tried to pull him over, was arrested early Sunday morning in Huntington Beach on suspicion of drunk driving, police said.
An officer began following a car traveling west on Warner Avenue from Beach Boulevard at about 2:30 a.m., the Huntington Beach Police Department said in a Facebook post.
The male driver accelerated but the officer was able to get him to stop near Warner and Springdale Street.
The man, whose name was not released, was then arrested. He was one of five drivers arrested Saturday on suspicion of DUI.
