Wisteria Lane has always had its fair share of drama, but what’s going on off-screen may take the cake this time. TMZ is reporting that Nicollette Sheridan, who portrayed Edie Britt on “Desperate Housewives” until the character was killed off in April 2009, has alleged that series creator Marc Cherry assaulted her.

Sheridan is suing Cherry for assault and battery, gender violence and wrongful termination. She seeks over $20 million in damages. According to Sheridan, Cherry “forcefully” struck her head and face after she confronted him with a question about the script.

The alleged attack occurred on Sept. 24, 2008. Sheridan claims she immediately reported the incident to ABC, but the network didn’t take action, and Cherry continued “behaving in an extremely abusive and aggressive manner toward the individuals who work on the show.”

The suit alleges that Sheridan isn’t the only one who complained. When co-star Teri Hatcher complained to the network about Cherry’s behavior, he allegedly said, “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies.”

ABC Studios issued a statement to Zap2it saying: “While we have yet to see the actual complaint, we investigated similar claims made by Ms. Sheridan last year and found them to be without merit.”
