Letters: A tough ‘Sissy’

Re “A Sissy as tough as Wyoming,” Column One, Oct. 3

Women have been wearing men’s clothing for more than a century yet are never referred to as “cross dressers.” But really, that is beside the point.

Sissy Goodwin is an admirable man. He is living true to himself and contributing to his community positively, despite ridicule, assaults and “un-American” prejudice.

“We” as a nation have real issues in need of immediate address. Many of those issues can be greatly improved when “we” stop judging and instead accept and learn from human diversity. If only people could simply ask “why” before they form an opinion.

I hope that Sissy’s courage will encourage all who are considered “others” to venture out.
