Letters: A better home plan
Re “BofA tries home rental program,” Business, May 26
Bank of America’s plan to turn some distressed homeowners into rent-paying tenants is a good idea, though I would change the plan a bit.
To maintain stable family and neighborhood conditions, former owners should have the option to repurchase their homes in, say, 10 years at the then-appraised home value. With the chance of changing family circumstances, a tenant who has a chance to re-own the house would be the best caretaker of the property.
