L’Wren Scott, designer and girlfriend of Mick Jagger, found dead
L’Wren Scott, a fashion designer and longtime girlfriend of Mick Jagger, was found dead in her New York apartment on Monday of an apparent suicide.
L’Wren Scott, Mick Jagger’s girlfriend and a prominent fashion designer whose fans included some of the most powerful women in America, was found dead in an apartment in New York City on Monday morning, according to police and local media reports.
The 49-year-old’s boyfriend, Rolling Stones frontman Jagger, who was on tour in Australia at the time of the discovery, “is completely shocked and devastated by the news,” his spokesman said.
When asked about reports of Scott’s death, New York Police Department Sgt. Jessica McRorie told the Los Angeles Times that she couldn’t formally give out a name because the woman’s family had not been notified, but said that police discovered her unconscious and unresponsive at an address on 11th Avenue in Manhattan.
Scott was pronounced dead on arrival. An unnamed law enforcement official told the Associated Press that the death was a possible suicide.
McRorie told The Times that an investigation was ongoing and that a medical examiner would determine the cause of death.
Scott, a former model who was 6-foot-3, had started her own namesake clothing brand in 2006, and she more recently launched a limited-run clothing line with Banana Republic in December.
The Times previously reported that First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Nicole Kidman and Madonna were among the fans of her sophisticated, sharply tailored dresses.
