How California’s congressional delegation voted on the government shutdown

Congress averted a federal government shutdown Wednesday just hours before a midnight deadline to keep agencies open for business, and two years after a 17-day partial shutdown. The House of Representatives voted 277 to 151 on a measure to keep offices and services funded at current levels through Dec. 11. All but two of California's Republican lawmakers voted for the measure, in contrast to the majority of GOP House members who voted against it. Earlier in the day, the Senate passed the measure in a 78-20 vote, with more Republicans in favor of the temporary funding measure than against.

Some conservative Republicans had sought a government shutdown as part of their strategy to eliminate federal funding to Planned Parenthood. Congressional leaders are already looking to the next deadline and attempting to negotiate a broader two-year budget deal with the White House.
