Six people taken to hospital after possible drug overdoses downtown
Six people were taken to the hospital after suffering possible drug overdoses Friday night on a downtown Los Angeles street, officials said.
A Los Angeles Police Department officer who answered the emergency call also was treated at the hospital after inhaling the residue of something that might have been smoked at the scene, LAPD spokeswoman Jenny Houser said.
“It was an unknown substance,” Houser said.
The incident occurred about 7:15 p.m. at the corner of 5th and San Pedro streets. Hours later, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jason Schutt said, “Everyone’s doing OK.”
No arrests were made, Houser said.
