Alameda County district attorney’s inspector fired in widening Bay Area police sex scandal
Authorities say a San Francisco Bay Area district attorney’s inspector has been fired in connection with a growing sex scandal involving numerous law enforcement agencies.
Alameda County district attorney spokeswoman Teresa Drenick confirmed Thursday that Rick Orozco’s “appointment as an inspector has been withdrawn.”
KTVU-TV (Channel 2) reports that Orozco, a former Oakland police captain, had been accused of having inappropriate online communications with an 18-year-old woman. The woman is a self-described sex worker.

Orozco’s attorney, Michael Rains, says his client had never talked to the woman or met her in person.
Rains says the allegations against Orozco were “largely benign” and “don’t amount to actionable misconduct”
Two Oakland officers have resigned and three others have been placed on paid leave pending an internal affairs investigation. Several other officers have also been placed on administrative leave at other area law enforcement agencies
