L.A. Feline Film Festival: Lil Bub plus cat videos on 80-foot screen
Internet-famous cats like Lil Bub, Tara the Hero Cat and Dusty the Klepto Kitty were just some of the highlights at the L.A. Feline Film Festival in Exposition Park.
The Feline Film Festival – part of a worldwide tour celebrating all things cats – will arrive Sunday at Exposition Park.
There will be cat videos, cat costume contests and Internet-driven celebrity cats such as Lil Bub – the cat with her own book tour and clothing line.
“Cats are experiencing a second renaissance,” said L.A. Feline Film Festival director Erik DeLeo. “Not since the ancient Egyptians in recorded history have cats been worshiped like they are today.”
The festival is an initiative by the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. Its 2014 tour includes 39 stops.
This year’s festival in L.A., which is being organized by Organikat, an eco-friendly maker of cat products, is expected to draw up to 10,000 feline fanatics.
A centerpiece of the festival will be the 80-foot outdoor screen that will feature a compilation of the Web’s ultimate cat videos and short films.
And to make the event properly L.A., there will be food trucks, beer tents, live music and cat-friendly vendors – such as the company that makes yoga mats for cats.
The festival begins at 1 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m.
Cats are welcome. Dogs, on the other hand, not so much.
