Woman loses leg after man, possibly driving drunk, rams her car
A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after his vehicle allegedly rammed into the back of a double-parked car and caused a woman to lose her leg, authorities said.
The incident occurred at about 10 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of 50th Street and Vermont Avenue in Vermont Square, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Anthony Cabriales.
The woman had double-parked and was getting out of her car with her child when the man’s vehicle crashed into the back of her car, Cabrielas said.
The woman, who was taken to a hospital, lost her right leg as a result of the collision, authorities. The child did not sustain major injuries.
