San Diego woman among those wounded in Kenya attack
A 26-year-old woman from San Diego was among those wounded in the terrorist attack on a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya.
Elaine Dang, a graduate of Torrey Pines High School and UC Berkeley, was with co-workers when gunfire broke out at the Westgate Mall. Two of her co-workers were apparently killed.
Dang is working in Kenya for a restaurant guide, “Eat Out Kenya,” her father, Steven Dang, told KGTV-Channel 10. She suffered wounds to her chest, arm and leg, he said.
Dang was meeting co-workers at Nairobi’s upscale Westgate Mall for lunch when gunfire broke out Saturday.
In a series of tweets, Dang assured friends that she survived and is “hanging out with some of my best friends in Nairobi.”
“I am recovering,” said one tweet. “Thank you for all the love and support - in Kenya and overseas. Terrorism knows no religion.”
