One dead, one wounded in daytime shooting in Willowbrook
One person was dead and another wounded in a shooting in South Los Angeles on Thursday morning, sheriff’s deputies said.
Authorities received a report of gunshots near Avalon Boulevard and East 121st Street in Willowbrook about 8:35 a.m., L.A. County Sheriff’s Lt. Cal Gallegos said. The first deputies to arrive found two men in a car, one dead and the other wounded, Gallegos said.
There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
There have been 71 homicides in Willowbrook since 2007 and 206 homicides within two miles of that intersection in the last six years, according to the L.A. Times Homicide Report.
