Transformer fire erupts at Port of L.A. terminal in Wilmington
Firefighters extinguished a transformer fire that broke out Tuesday morning at a shipping-container terminal at the Port of Los Angeles.
The blaze was reported at about 7:30 a.m. at the TraPak Inc. facility in Wilmington, about a half-mile north of the Vincent Thomas Bridge, KTLA reported.
Before attacking the fire, Los Angeles firefighters waited for confirmation from the L.A. Department of Water and Power that the transformer had been shut down.
“There are no structures threatened at this time,” said LAFD spokeswoman Katherine Main. “There’s no injuries reported at this time.”
