Three killed in single-vehicle accident on 110 Freeway
Three Lancaster residents, including a 12-year-old girl, were killed Saturday in a single-vehicle accident on the northbound 110 Freeway just north of downtown Los Angeles, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two women, ages 37 and 19, and the young girl were pronounced dead at the scene following the accident that occurred about 12:15 a.m. near the connector to the northbound 5 Freeway, authorities said.
The driver of the GMC minivan, identified as a 55-year-old man, and several other passengers, including a 36-year-old man, a 13-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, all suffered minor to moderate injuries, authorities said. All were from Lancaster.
The injured were taken to Los Angeles County-USC Hospital.
Authorities said four of the passengers, including the three who were killed, had been ejected from the vehicle. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused van to veer off the roadway, collide with a concrete wall and overturn on its right side before coming to rest.
