Suspect arrested in death of Pomona woman who was set ablaze on Christmas Day
The man suspected of killing a Pomona woman by dousing her in gasoline and setting her ablaze on Christmas Day was arrested Sunday on a bus in Pasadena.
Clarence Duwell Dear of Pomona, 51, was captured without incident, according to a KTLA-5 report. No other details of the arrest were immediately available.
Dear was wanted for the murder of 41-year-old Dawn Hensley on Friday following a domestic dispute at a residence on the 1500 block of Cordova Street in Pomona.
Witnesses said the pair engaged in a heated argument that turned violent, according to KTLA. Dear allegedly chased Hensley from the residence, pouring gasoline on her and setting her ablaze, possibly with a lit cigarette.
Dear allegedly fled the scene. Neighbors rushed to the woman’s assistance and remained with her until firefighters arrived. Hensley was treated for severe burns at a nearby hospital but did not survive.
