Authorities arrest suspect in Stanton bar killing
A man wanted in connection with a shooting death outside a Stanton bar was taken into custody early Friday by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team, officials said.
Leonbardo “Banda” Valladares, 43, surrendered without incident about 3 a.m. in the driveway of a Garden Grove home where he had briefly barricaded himself, officials said.
Deputies had surrounded the home near Lampson Avenue and Haster Street between midnight and 1 a.m., said Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Sheriff’s Department.
Valladares was being interviewed hours after the arrest and had yet to be booked on charges, Hallock said. Valladares knew the people in the home where he was found, but how they knew each other wasn’t immediately clear, he said. No one else was taken into custody.
The shooting occurred on Sept. 15 after Valladares got into a confrontation with Francisco Salgado Torres, 48, in front the Oasis Bar, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Valladares then allegedly shot the victim multiple times and fled, officials said.
