High-speed chase ends in crash in Sherman Oaks
A suspect driving a stolen vehicle led police on a high-speed pursuit for about a half hour Friday night before colliding into multiple vehicles, then spinning out of control to a stop, police said.
The chase began about 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of Woodman Avenue and Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, said Officer Matthew Ludwig of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The pursuit ended about 10:10 p.m. at the intersection of Magnolia and Sepulveda boulevards. A rescue ambulance was requested by officers on scene.
Footage broadcast live on KCAL-TV, which followed the chase from a helicopter, showed a dark-colored car ramming into vehicles stopped at an intersection, sending sparks flying, before spiraling out of control.
Ludwig said officers detained one male and one female. There were also broadcast reports that a child was in the car as well.
No details about injuries were available.
