Sheriff’s detectives investigate death of 2-year-old girl in Carson
Sheriff’s detectives said no obvious signs of foul play were visible in the death of a 2-year-old girl who was found unresponsive in Carson, officials said Thursday.

April 28, 8:48 a.m.: In an earlier version of this article, the Sheriff’s Department reported the death as occurring in Long Beach. It later clarified that while the Long Beach ZIP code was used, the death actually was in Carson.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives responded to the 2500 block of East Jackson Street at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
Detectives said the girl’s father found her unresponsive and called 911 for help. He performed CPR before paramedics arrived.
She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office will determine the cause of the girl’s death.
