San Francisco police release sketches of suspects in fatal attack seen on video
Warning: A British tourist’s killing on a San Francisco street is caught on dramatic video.
San Francisco police have released sketches of a man and woman believed to have been involved in a robbery seen on video in which the victim was chased into the middle of a street and fatally stabbed in front of onlookers.
The incident occurred Feb. 18 on Post Street near San Francisco’s Civic Center. The video shows a robber chasing and then attacking the 44-year-old British tourist in the middle of the street behind a passing car.
The tourist died last month, officials said.
Authorities said police were looking for two suspects and asked anyone who was in the area of Post between Franklin and Gough streets to contact police.
The male assailant is described as 5 foot 10 with a heavy build. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark hoodie the night of the attack. The woman is described as 5 foot 4 with a small build with her hair in braids or dreadlocks.
Police told the San Francisco Chronicle that the victim was stabbed in the head after a man and woman tried to steal his messenger bag. Police said the two men scuffled over the messenger bag before the stabbing.
In a video, a car is seen driving down the street then stopping as the incident unfolded. But that didn’t stop the attack. Both suspects fled on foot, police said.
