San Bernardino mother tried to kill 17-week-old son, authorities say
A 28-year-old San Bernardino woman was arrested this week for allegedly trying to kill her 17-week-old boy.
The boy was brought to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital on Sept. 11 for having episodes of apnea, or a temporary cessation of breathing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Then, “on several occasions while the mother was visiting, the baby stopped breathing and required resuscitation,” according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Department.
Detectives later learned that the boy’s mother, Shira Hart, allegedly assaulted the baby, according to the Sheriff’s Department, and she was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
