There is no information on a suspect at this point, police said. Bayyan is from Los Angeles.
An Uber spokesperson confirmed that Bayyan was a driver with Uber and was on a trip at the time, but did not give details on whether he was en route to pick up a passenger or was dropping one off.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. Bayyan to this senseless act of violence,” said Michael Amodeo, an Uber spokesperson. “Our thoughts and condolences are with his friends, families and loved ones.”
