Pedestrian fatally struck in Torrance is identified
A 36-year-old pedestrian who was fatally struck by a car this week in Torrance was identified Wednesday by Los Angeles County coroner’s officials as Ernestine Turner.
Turner was in the roadway in the 20000 block of Hawthorne Boulevard at about 5:40 a.m. Tuesday when a southbound driver of a Toyota Camry struck her, according to a news release from the Torrance Police Department.
By the time emergency crews arrived at the scene, “the pedestrian had already succumbed to her injuries,” the Police Department said.
The driver of the Camry was not injured and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, authorities added.
