Ontario motorcycle cop in ‘serious condition’ after big rig wreck
A police motorcycle officer was severely injured Tuesday morning when he collided with a big rig in an industrial area north of the 60 Freeway in Ontario.
Police closed Archibald Avenue between the 60 and Philadelphia Street indefinitely while officials investigate the crash, said Ontario police Det. Bill Russell.
The officer was traveling north at about 7:10 a.m. on Archibald about 100 yards north of the 60 Freeway when he collided with the big rig, according to police. The officer was airlifted to a local hospital in “serious condition,” Russell said.
The driver of the big rig was uninjured and was not cited or arrested at the scene, he said. An investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing.
The officer was not responding to an emergency call at the time of the crash, Russell added.
