Naked man covered in blood was ‘in a zombie state’ as he tried to steal cars in Victorville
A naked man covered in blood terrorized a Victorville neighborhood when he broke into an apartment and tried to carjack three vehicles, including a sheriff’s patrol cruiser, before he was finally arrested, authorities said Tuesday.
Deputies say Daniel Anglin, 19, of San Bernardino was likely under the influence of a controlled substance Monday when he began a rampage on the streets of Victorville.
The nude man was first spotted in the middle of the intersection of El Evado Road and Seneca Road, where he tried to forcibly take two separate vehicles from their drivers, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Cellphone video shows at least one of the drivers pushing and yelling at the man.
At some point, he broke into an apartment, where he was confronted by the owner before running away. When deputies arrived, Anglin tried to steal their patrol cruiser, sheriff’s officials said.
The video shows deputies using their batons to subdue the man, but he briefly slipped away.
Resident Lydia Lopez told KCAL-TV the man was incoherent and screaming.
“He really did look like he was more a zombie,” she told the news station. “He was like in a zombie state of mind.”
Anglin was eventually arrested and taken to a hospital.
