Video: Naked man crashes through closed van window in crazed rampage
A naked man’s frenzied rampage through an Anaheim parking lot, which was caught on video, ended with a police scuffle and a trip to the hospital, police say.
Police said Garrett Smith terrorized the Anaheim neighborhood, using his naked body to smash into cars.
Surveillance video cameras filmed the ordeal and show the nude 21-year-old Riverside man sprinting through the parking lot about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, then running head-first into the back window of a Mazda minivan, shattering the glass.
After diving into the closed minivan window, Smith fell to the ground and rolled around in the Mungall Drive parking lot.
He then rolled onto his feet and ran after a woman driving a car, who pulled out of a parking spot and then crashed into a fence.
Smith then leaped onto her car windshield as she drove away. While he was clinging to her windshield, the woman grazed the Mazda minivan. He eventually fell to the ground and ran away, Anaheim police Lt. Eric Trapp said.
But police caught up with him and scuffled with the naked, bloodied man.
It was unclear whether Smith was drunk or high on drugs. But he was arrested on suspicion of vandalism, resisting arrest and being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Trapp said.
Smith was released for medical treatment and taken to UC Irvine Medical Center. He was being treated Wednesday for the serious injuries he suffered when he rammed his body into the vehicles, Trapp said.
