Death toll in Fontana crash rises to three, including 2-year-old girl
A third person has died after a violent three-car crash Monday night in Fontana, the San Bernardino County coroner said.
A 33-year-old woman died at a nearby hospital about two hours after a crash near Citrus Avenue and Foothill Boulevard at about 8:30 p.m. A 2-year-old girl and 33-year-old man were also killed, according to the San Bernardino County coroner’s website.
Several others were hurt in the crash, officials said.
A preliminary investigation showed that one of the vehicles involved in the crash sped through a red light, according to Fontana police.
“One of the vehicles was traveling at a high rate of speed” and “blew the red light,” Lt. William Megenney told The Times.
The identities of the victims will be released pending notification of next of kin, the coroner’s department said.
