One dead, four injured in violent crash in Mid-Wilshire
One person was killed and four others were rushed to a hospital in serious condition early Monday following a violent three-car crash on La Brea Avenue in Mid-Wilshire, police said.
The vehicles collided at the intersection of La Brea and San Vicente Boulevard about 12:40 a.m., killing the lone occupant of a black sedan, said LAPD Sgt. Matt McNulty.
“It’s still being investigated if there was a DUI or just running a red light,” McNulty said.
Witnesses told KTLA that one of the vehicles involved appeared to run a red light and broadsided an SUV in the intersection, triggering a collision with a third vehicle.
“It was fast. The guy was going fast,” witness Jade West told KTLA of the car that ran the red light. There were no skid marks in the road indicating that the driver attempted to stop, the TV station reported.
The crash closed the intersection not far from the Miracle Mile area and could tangle Monday’s morning commute.
