Grab a towel, slap on some sunscreen and head to the beach this weekend because it’s going to be hot, dry and sunny.

A warm weather system should settle over Southern California through the weekend, with temperatures possibly in the triple digits inland, forecasters say.

Saturday will be the warmest day. Downtown Los Angeles may hit 90 degrees, the beaches from Orange County to Santa Barbara will be in the mid-80s, and Inland Empire thermometers could show 100 degrees or higher.

The heat will ease slightly Sunday before leveling off across the region Monday and Tuesday to more average temperatures in the 80s, said Philip Gonsalves, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Humidity will be low, which will continue to dry brush and vegetation in Los Angeles and Ventura counties’ hills, mountains and valleys, which increases the possibility of a wildfire. Fortunately, there will be little wind this weekend, Gonsalves said.
