SUV slams into man working at Marina del Rey dock, killing him
A 40-year-old man working on a boat trailer was killed Saturday after an SUV slammed into him at a Marina del Rey dock, authorities said.
The crash happened shortly before 3:30 p.m., when the Ford Expedition was backing up to the trailer in Burton Chace Park, according to a report from the California Highway Patrol. The man, whose name has not been released, was helping hook up the boat trailer, authorities said.
The SUV’s driver reversed at “unsafe speeds,” slamming into the trailer and the man, the CHP said. The vehicle continued backward and crashed into two other cars.
The man died of his injuries less than two hours later, the CHP said.
No arrests were made, according to the CHP report. Authorities asked anyone who saw the crash to call investigators at (310) 642-3939.
