Man ejected from car, dies in crash on 5 Freeway in Sun Valley
A man who officials say wasn’t wearing a seat belt died early Wednesday after he was ejected from a car that struck a concrete barrier and overturned on the 5 Freeway in Sun Valley.
The California Highway Patrol said Saxon Matsuki, 21, was a passenger in the vehicle that was traveling about 60 mph on the 5 Freeway at about 1 a.m. when the driver lost control and struck the concrete barrier near Hollywood Way.
The car overturned several times, according to the CHP, and Matsuki was “fully ejected.”
He was pronounced dead at the scene about 15 minutes after the incident.
The driver and another passenger in the car sustained minor and moderate injuries.
The CHP said Matsuki was “not properly restrained inside the vehicle” when the accident occurred.
