San Jose man is shot by police after attacking his mother with an ax, authorities say
San Jose police shot a 26-year-old man who they say attacked his mother with an ax Wednesday morning.
Officers arrived at the home in the 1400 block of Lansing Avenue just after 7 a.m. and saw the man swinging the ax at his mother, police said. That’s when officers fired several shots at the man.
“It’s a little frightening to see some of the violence that’s occurring within the family in that situation,” Lt. Tom Sims told reporters at the scene. “It’s unfortunate, but we’ll be out there doing the best we can.”
The mother and son were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
