Riverside County man arrested on suspicion of abusing toddler
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of abusing a toddler at his family’s Riverside County child-care center, authorities said Monday.
The 8-month-old boy received “serious bodily injuries” when he was allegedly abused by Tyreece Washington, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
The child was taken Thursday to a local medical center, where officials there alerted law enforcement authorities.
Authorities with the Sheriff’s Department said an investigation led deputies to the Washington Family Child Care center, a licensed day-care facility in San Jacinto.
Washington was booked into the Larry Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of abusing a child under 5, authorities said. He was being held in lieu of $40,000 bail.
The Riverside County Department of Social Services, which regulates child-care licensing, was notified, authorities said.
Anyone with information is asked to call authorities at (951) 791-3400.
