Man found dead with gunshot wound in Long Beach
Long Beach police are investigating the death of a man who was found early Tuesday with a gunshot wound to the upper torso, authorities said.
Police received a call at 2:10 a.m. after an adult male was found on a walkway between a single-family home and an apartment building in the 600 block of East 9th Street, said Lt. Erik Herzog, a spokesman for the Long Beach Police Department.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, Herzog said. Authorities have not yet released the man’s name, but he was believed to be in his early 20s, Herzog said.
He said investigators did not have a suspect.
The man was described by residents of one of the nearby houses as a family friend who occasionally stayed at the residence, police said.
There were no reports of Halloween parties or altercations in the area before the call came in, Herzog said.
“It’s usually a really quiet neighborhood,” he said.
