Police shoot, wound man armed with a knife [updated]
A Los Angeles police officer shot and wounded a man who confronted him with a knife at a Winnetka residence Sunday, authorities said.
[Updated, 10 p.m.: The unidentified man was struck in the shoulder, said Los Angeles police Lt. Andrew Neiman. The man was listed in stable condition at a hospital.
“It was a family dispute,” Neiman said. “The family called 911 because the suspect armed himself with a knife.”]
Police responded to the call about 3:20 p.m. in the 19800 block of Hemmingway Street, Officer Sally Madera said. The shooting occurred after the family told officers the man was in the residence, Madera said.
No officers were injured. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
