Authorities have yet to examine human remains found last weekend in Lancaster.

The remains were found about 5:40 p.m. Dec. 14 near the area between Challenger Way and East Avenue J-8, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Homicide detectives were sent to the scene to investigate the discovery.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Thursday that the remains had not yet been examined and that officials are unsure whether they are those of a man or woman.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
