Authorities are searching for four men suspected in two home invasions in the Santa Clarita area late Wednesday.

The first break-in was reported about 9 p.m. at a home in the 17400 block of Blue Aspen Lane in the Canyon Country community. A couple in their 60s were having dinner when they heard the sliding glass door at the back of their home shatter and saw four men enter, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The couple tried to run out the front door and call for help but were stopped by the suspects, authorities said. The men then fled in a dark sedan without taking any items from the home.

About two hours later, a woman in her 70s was in bed when she heard glass breaking in her home in the 16700 block of Nearview Drive, roughly five miles from where the first break-in occurred. A man entered the woman’s bedroom, pointed a handgun at her and told her not to move, according to sheriff’s officials.

She told investigators she heard at least two other people ransacking her house. Authorities said the group fled with valuables, though it is was not clear what items were stolen.

Descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available. Detectives are asking anyone with information or surveillance cameras in the area to call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121, Ext. 5146.
