200 Los Angeles County firefighters battle 60-acre blaze in Gorman
Los Angeles County firefighters are battling a 60-acre blaze along the 5 Freeway in Gorman, authorities said Tuesday.
The fire was reported just north of State Route 138 about 1 p.m.
About 200 firefighters, three helicopters and a fixed wing aircraft were trying to extinguish the flames, which is 80% contained, according to county fire officials.
The fire was growing amid hot, dry weather, medium brush and 8 mph winds, Los Angeles County fire Inspector Joe Marron said.
The California Highway Patrol closed the right lane on the northbound 5 because of the fire, authorities said.
