Hiker found dead near steep ravine in Angeles National Forest
A 56-year-old Los Angeles man was found dead near Inspiration Point in the Angeles National Forest on Sunday afternoon after another hiker passing by spotted his body in a ravine, authorities said.
Members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Air Rescue 5 unit located the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene before being airlifted to Farnsworth Park in Altadena.
A preliminary coroner’s examination determined that the man died from trauma sustained during a fall from a steep trail.
The man’s identity had not been released pending notification of his family.
