Masked gunman kills employee at El Monte Jack in the Box
A masked man shot and killed a Jack in the Box employee during a robbery attempt in El Monte on Friday night, authorities said.
The suspect entered the Jack in the Box in the 9200 block of Flair Drive about 7:30 p.m., said Deputy Ryan Rouzan, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect jumped over the front counter in what police believe was an attempt to rob the restaurant. He shot the employee in the upper torso and fled on foot, Rouzan said.
The 25-year-old victim was transported to a hospital, where he died. His name won’t be released until relatives are notified.
Nothing was stolen from the restaurant.
Police are searching for suspects. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500.
