8 teens suffer heat exhaustion at Irwindale track meet
Eight student athletes were taken to the hospital after experiencing heat exhaustion at a track meet in Irwindale, officials said.
The students, who ranged in age from 13 to 16, started to collapse after reaching the finish line in 107-degree heat, said Kyle Sanford, a supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Paramedics arrived at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area about 12:45 to take the students to the hospital. No information was available about their condition, Sanford said.
