Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes in Eastern Sierra in Inyo County
A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning in the Eastern Sierra about 20 miles south of Owens Lake in Inyo County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 11:32 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.1 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 32 miles south of Lone Pine, Calif., 39 miles north northwest of Ridgecrest, Calif., and 59 miles east of Porterville, Calif.
In the last 10 days, there have been four earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
