Firefighters are trying to determine the cause of a massive blaze that destroyed businesses in an industrial part of South L.A. early Wednesday.

The three-alarm fire erupted about 1:03 a.m. inside a business in the 5700 block of South Hooper Avenue, said Brian Humphrey, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman. But the fast-moving flames quickly spread into neighboring businesses, forcing 250 firefighters to tackle the blaze defensively.
