Man charged in attack on boy outside Disney Concert Hall
A man who allegedly attacked a boy outside of the Disney Concert Hall during a field trip last week has been charged, Los Angeles County prosecutors announced Monday.
Raul Villalba Ocampo, 33, is accused of grabbing an 11-year-old boy around the neck on the front steps of the venue Thursday afternoon before he was wrestled away by security.
Ocampo was holding keys that may have cut the boy’s neck during the incident, officials said. The boy was part of a school field trip to watch a chorale rehearsal. The boy was in “good shape” after the incident, said sheriff’s deputy Lt. Bob Killeen.
“He’s a real trouper,” he said.
Ocampo was charged Monday with assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse, child abuse and using a deadly and dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Ocampo faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of all charges.
