L.A. County sheriff’s deputy accidentally shoots self while serving search warrant in South El Monte
A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy accidentally shot himself while serving a search warrant in South El Monte on Thursday morning, authorities said.
The narcotics deputy was serving the warrant in the 11200 block of Broadmead Street when he was hurt about 5 a.m., a sheriff’s spokesperson said. The deputy shot himself in the leg and the cause of the unintentional discharge is under investigation, officials said.
Video from the scene showed the deputy being loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital. His injury was not considered life-threatening, officials said.
Authorities detained four people as part of the warrant service but no other details were available.
